Over the last four years, it has sincerely been an honor and a privilege to serve you as your city councilman for Ward 2. I have felt joy at watching our children and seniors utilize improved civic facilities. I have felt the excitement that comes when the City finally knocks down that run-down property next door. I have shared in the frustration that comes when it seems as though that leak or that pothole will just never get repaired.
Most importantly, however, I have been humbled and amazed by the sacrifices made by so many people who are working everyday to make this City better.
To the men and women in our police and fire departments, to the public works employees breaking their backs out in the field, to the neighborhood leaders who fight for Jackson house by house and block by block, to the teachers, and to the after-school program volunteers: thank you for what you do. Thank you for your leadership, for your guidance, for your partnership and for your help over the last four years.
Since being trusted with the amazing responsibility of serving at City Hall, I have worked to champion you and the values that run through our community.
I am running for re-election because now more than ever we need accountability, transparency, and common sense in City Hall. On city council, I have been committed to challenging the status quo. Whether it has been in the manner in which we review the city's budget or in the way we debate everyday ordinances, I have focused on making our city function better. Because you deserve the details of the decisions that are made downtown, I have been forthright with you, whether on-line, at community forums, or at neighborhood association meetings.
So as we begin the next phase of this journey, I thank my wife and my family and the staff at Priester Law Firm for sacrificing so much time and energy to support me being on council. I also thank each and every one of you for your prayers and support over the past 4 years. It is because you believe in the promise of Jackson that Jackson’s future remains bright and you inspire my desire to seek re-election. The challenges we now face are surmountable because of the spirit and character that runs through our community.
With your vote on May 2nd, I will continue to bring that same spirit and character to the city council. Thank you for allowing me to serve you thus far and I look forward to continuing to serve Ward 2 and the City of Jackson in a manner that makes you proud.
